Welcome to LASSWANDERN  - Nature on Track

Nature radiates tranquility and virtue. Trees, meadows, lakes, and other pleasant stimuli of nature lift our spirit and mood. Exercise in nature promotes calmness, a sense of well-being, focus, and clear thinking. Hiking through woods and open natural spaces benefits our immune system and lowers  blood pressure. The calming green, the quiet rustling of leaves, and the summerly spicy scent in the forest invite us to breath freely and they spend comfort and energy. Recent research shows that hiking through woods and nature experiences in general lower levels of stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline as well as blood pressure and also calm heart frequency. A stroll through the city induced nothing positive. On the contrary, office work, the lack of exercise, time pressure, city life, and permanent digital connectedness cause angst, tension, stress, and mental exhaustion. The best remedy without side effects. Getting out in nature.

I invite you to join me for getting away from the noisy city and daily hustle and bustle and into the quiet and expanse of enchanting forests and open fields. I look forward to walking together with you for short or long distance and across plenty of nature seasoned with some culture. “Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside.” ( Elizabeth von Arnim, The Adventures of Elizabeth in Rügen,1904).

We tour in small groups - preferably no more than six people. We hike or pilgrim for hours or a few days in the southwestern hinterland of Berlin and Potsdam. We will experience woods, fields, meadows, hills, valleys, creeks, lakes, castles, churches as well as the people, fauna, and  flora between the lakes of the river Havel and the rolling landscape of the Fläming region. With some luck, we may even encounter wolves or at least tracks of wolves that only recently have reinhabited the state of Brandenburg. We will - as you wish - spend the night under open skies, barn roof, or in a comfortable bed. We will walk in shoes or without. We will taste edible wild plants along the trail and feed from the rucksack or local cuisine. We believe in silence while hiking, respectful converse with each other, and digital detoxication. So please deactivate your cell phone, which will reactivate your senses.

Got curious? But you are still uncertain and hesitant because of expected physical efforts, strange people, unsure group dynamics, or fear in the wild? Don't worry. I consider myself as an experienced companion with social competence who will guide you through the local nature and culture. En route, I am happy to explain but even more so I love helping you whenever it is needed. I respect and care for our environment and support public transportation. Therefore, our tours will preferably start and end at a train or bus station that conveniently connects to Potsdam and Berlin.

I look forward to welcoming you, no matter where you come from, whether you are poor or rich materially, or if you are a group of strangers, family, friends, tourists, students, firm staff, or any other group. Please write to me or just give me a call so I can talk about my tour ideas, your wishes, and desired dates for our joint tours. DIfferent than hiking clubs, I do not usually offer fixed touring dates. I hike on demand, following individual schedule arrangements, and of course according to your wishes whenever possible. Still, you will find some suggested tours on this website. More up to date  information on already hiked tours and on dates for scheduled hikes can be found on Facebook via link below.

And what are the costs? What ever you can give. All contributions and donations are welcome so I can cover part of our expenses and for supporting my mission to protect and conserve our natural environment. Other than that, our tours only cost more or less physical strength, some stamina, and your willingness to let go cell phone addictions while hiking and everyday cares.

“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” John Muir (1901)

Let's wandern, let go the cares!
